vanderhart_2006 =============== H\. W\. van der Hart, "Ionization rates for He, Ne, and Ar subjected to laser light with wavelengths between 248\.6 and 390 nm", Phys\. Rev\. A 73, 023417 \(2006\) `Source record `__ · :doc:`Catalogue ` · :doc:`Review register ` DOI: `10\.1103/PhysRevA\.73\.023417 `__ **Source kind:** theory **Recorded technique:** R\-matrix Floquet theory\: the Floquet Hamiltonian of the atom in a monochromatic, constant\-intensity field diagonalised in an R\-matrix inner region, with the ground state followed as a complex quasi\-energy whose imaginary part gives the ionisation rate \(pp\. 2\-3\)\. The residual ions are described by one target state, the ground state of He\+, Ne\+ or Ar\+ \('this single target state provides a good description of the Ne\+ and Ar\+ ground states, as it is obtained through a CI expansion', p\. 2\)\. He, Ne and Ar at 390 nm, intensities up to 2\.5e14 W/cm2, and multiphoton rates from 248\.6 to 390 nm\. **Materials in structured entries:** Ar, He, Ne **Dataset quantities:** ionization\_rate **Contents:** 3 datasets; 0 formulas. Curation notes -------------- Journal pp\. 023417\-1 to \-9 = PDF pages 1\-9\. Identity checked on the first page \(single author H\. W\. van der Hart, Queen's University Belfast\) on 2026\-09\-29\. EXTRACTED \(tools/extract/vanderhart\_2006\.py\), by data rule 8 \(TC\-699, TC\-701\)\: the rates are printed in figures only\. Fig\. 6 \(p\. 8, library figure fig\_1efe76bb16f6\) draws He \(solid line\), Ne \(dashed\) and Ar \(dot\-dashed\) at 390 nm against the intensity, on log\-rate axes from 1e8 to 1e14 s\-1 \(the frame's bottom edge is unlabelled\)\. It is an image embedded in the PDF, 900 x 635 pixels at 300 dpi, read from those native pixels\: the axes calibrated from the frame's lines and inward ticks \(every tick within 0\.3 pixel of the scale\); each curve traced column by column from its crossing of the 1\.30e14 W/cm2 column and sampled every 0\.05e14 W/cm2 on its smooth part \(He 1\.05\-2\.45, Ne 0\.90\-2\.10, Ar 0\.65\-1\.90\), the peaks of Ne's resonances at 1\.01 and 1\.45e14 and of Ar's 3s2 3p5 3d left out; a sample in a gap of the dashes interpolated between the nearest traced columns within 10 pixels\. One pixel is 3\.4 % in the rate and 0\.0033e14 W/cm2 in the intensity\. THE CHECK of the reading\: van der Hart 2007's Fig\. 4 redraws the Ar curve as a vector drawing \(vanderhart\_2007/fig4\_floquet\_Ar, TC\-700\)\. At the Ar samples this image's reading is 0\.97 to 1\.04 times it \(median 1\.004\), and 1\.37 on the 3d resonance's peak \(0\.90e14, left out\)\. The overlay of the samples on the image was inspected \(2026\-09\-29\)\. Hence 5 %\. STATED IN THE TEXT \(p\. 8\)\: 'The ADK rates are in best agreement with the R\-matrix Floquet rates for Ar, with a difference of about a factor 3 at an intensity of 2 x 10^14 W/cm2\. At the same intensity, the difference is a factor 17 for Ne, while the difference is a factor 150 for He\.' Seven\-photon ionisation rates of He between 280 and 315 nm are '30% below those obtained using a time\-dependent Hartree\-Fock approach, and 15% below previous density\-matrix calculations'\. The calculated ionisation energies are not stated\. Ionisation of Ar at 390 nm needs 5 photons in zero field and 6 at 1e14 W/cm2 \(p\. 3\)\. POLARISATION\: not stated in words; the Floquet channels are those of a linearly polarised field \(van der Hart 2007, the record's polarisation note\)\. **Recorded bibliographic identity status:** VALIDATED.
