'The vertical broken lines indicate the position of the excitation energies evaluated as described above' \(Table 1's experimental values, LS\-weighted averages of the J levels\), and of the thresholds\. The resonances stand at those experimental energies by construction; no other shift\. LS coupling\. EXTRACTED \(tools/extract/moccia\_1983\.py\), by data rule 8 \(TC\-699\)\: the paper prints no number of the cross sections or ratios \(the differential coefficients are 'available upon request', p\. 11/2746\)\. Each curve read from the page image at its native resolution\: the axes calibrated from the tick marks \(each found in the image; each x scale's ticks on one line within 1\.6 pixels except Ne's left scale, whose 0\.70 tick lies 5\.6 pixels \(0\.003 hartree\) off the line of the others, in both Figs\. 1 and 4; the y ticks within 1\.6 pixels\); each curve traced column by column from a seed pixel and its style checked \(the full curve unbroken over 60 columns or more; the chain broken at least 4 times per 100 columns, no dash longer than 50\); samples every 0\.005 hartree left of the axis break and every 0\.001 right of it, where the line is clear\: no other dark pixel within 4 pixels of it within 4 columns either side, no steeper than 2 pixels per column; across a gap of the chain, interpolated between the nearest clear columns \(at most 24 pixels apart\)\. Samples within 6 pixels of the drawn R = 1\.5 line \(Figs\. 4, 5\) are left out\: a curve on the line cannot be told from it\. The samples left out are listed in the script, which fails if they change; each value's pixel is in its printed cell\. One pixel is 0\.00051 hartree \(Ne, left of the break\), 0\.00035 \(Ar\), 0\.00012 and 0\.00011 right of the break; in y 2\.2e\-54 cm4 s \(Fig\. 1\), 5\.0e\-53 \(Fig\. 2\), 0\.0029 and 0\.0028 \(Figs\. 4, 5\); the lines are 2 to 4 pixels wide\. Nothing is read on the steep flanks and peaks of the resonances, in the narrow windows between close resonances \(Ne 0\.727\-0\.737 and 0\.762\-0\.773 in Figs\. 1 and 4 except where listed; Ar 0\.516\-0\.524, 0\.546\-0\.552, 0\.564\-0\.579\), or where the two curves run within a line width of each other\. The overlays of the values on the page images were inspected \(2026\-10\-09\)\. THE X SCALE \(reported by the script\)\: the vertical broken lines found, on the tick scales, against the thresholds \(IP/2\) and Table 1\: Ne \(Fig\. 1\) threshold 0\.3949 \(0\.39625\: \-0\.0014\), 2p\-\>3s 0\.6203 \(0\.6192\: \+0\.0011\), and within 0\.0002 hartree right of the break \(4s, 3d, 5s, 4d, 6s and the ionisation potential 0\.7925\); Fig\. 4 the same within 0\.0009\. Ar \(Figs\. 2 and 5\)\: the threshold line stands at 0\.2847\-0\.2851 against 0\.2896 \(\-0\.0049 to \-0\.0045\), 3p\-\>4s at 0\.4366 against 0\.4347 \(\+0\.0019\); right of the break the lines are within 0\.0005 of Table 1 \(3d, 5s, 4d, 7s, 8s\) and of the ionisation potential\. So on Ar's left scale the drawing's thresholds and resonances, and the curves drawn to them \(the curves begin at the threshold line\), sit up to 0\.005 hartree \(0\.13 eV\) from the printed ticks; the energies are recorded as the ticks give them, not shifted, and this is the x uncertainty there\. The y scales read the drawn R = 1\.5 line as 1\.500 and 1\.485 \(Fig\. 4, left and right\) and 1\.504 \(Fig\. 5\)\. DIGITISING UNCERTAINTY\: 4 pixels in y \(the tick residuals and the centring on a line 2\-4 pixels wide\)\: 1e\-53 cm4 s \(Fig\. 1\), 2e\-52 \(Fig\. 2\), 0\.015 in the ratio \(Fig\. 5\) and 0\.02 \(Fig\. 4, with the R = 1\.5 line's 0\.015\); in x the scale offsets above\. The paper states no uncertainty\. FINDING \(Table 1\)\: the Ar '3p\-\>6s' experimental energy is printed 0\.5221 hartree, below 3p\-\>5s \(0\.5239\), though its RPA value \(0\.5583\) lies 0\.027 above 5s's \(0\.5314\); Figs\. 2 and 5 draw no line at 0\.5221 but one at 0\.5522, between 4d \(0\.5461\) and 7s \(0\.5645\)\: the printed 0\.5221 is very likely a misprint of 0\.5521\. Table 1 is not taken, so no erratum is entered; the curves are drawn with the line at 0\.552\.
